Certification Levels
Roles in the Global Certification
BTP’s certification standard defines distinct roles as participants advance through levels of expertise: knowing, practicing, training, and mastering. This journey starts with foundational knowledge, which is shared freely through BTP’s Insights page, insights, cases, and writings from Senior Master Enablers, Master Enablers, and Senior Enablers. Although this level is not certified, it provides essential background for those progressing into certification. From there, individuals can advance from Practitioners to Enablers, Senior Enablers, and Master Enablers, ensuring sustainable growth and implementation of methods within organizations.
The certified Practitioner:
Able to Apply the Method
The Practitioner level is the foundational stage of the certification standard, focusing on developing practical skills within our programs: TWI Job Instruction, TWI Job Relations, TWI Job Methods, or Toyota Kata.

Each program has its own certification track, including a dedicated Basic Training specific to that method. This training is designed for groups of 6-10 participants and is developed through standardized instruction and practical routines where participants practice and refine their skills to fully capture and embed new knowledge.
Success at this level depends on consistent practice during the initial weeks of applying new skills. To develop this level, participants join the relevant Basic Training, and we strongly recommend receiving follow-up coaching and conducting pilot projects.
Sustaining and further developing the Practitioner level requires integrating the learned methods into daily work.
The Certified Enabler:
Able to Certify Practitioners
The Enabler level is designed for experienced practitioners ready to teach and certify new Practitioners within our programs: TWI Job Instruction, TWI Job Relations, TWI Job Methods, or Toyota Kata.

Each program has its own Enabler certification track that includes training specific to that method. This level focuses on standardized methods for passing on skills, building the knowledge needed to lead basic training and provide follow-up coaching.
The Train-the-Trainer (TTT) course, essential for becoming an Enabler, is designed for smaller groups of 4-6 participants, ensuring in-depth learning and skill transfer. To develop as an Enabler, practitioners must apply the method for 4 to 6 months and then join the TTT class for their specific program. Afterward, they prepare for 6 to 8 weeks to deliver their first training.
Maintaining this level requires delivering at least four basic classes annually, with a recommendation for companies to develop at least two Enablers to support mutual coaching and growth.
Optional Add-On Skill: Conducting Management Training
Enablers have the option to develop additional expertise to conduct Management Training within our programs: TWI Job Instruction, TWI Job Relations, TWI Job Methods, or Toyota Kata. This skill is essential for scaling in larger organizations. While BTP typically supports clients with this service, we have found that transferring these crucial skills to Enablers is highly effective for larger implementations, enabling internal capability and sustainability.
The Certified Master Enabler:
Able to Certify Enablers
The Master Enabler level represents comprehensive expertise, covering all aspects of coaching, training, and maintaining the integrity of our programs: TWI Job Instruction, TWI Job Relations, TWI Job Methods, or Toyota Kata.

Each program has its own Master Enabler certification track to ensure mastery of that specific method. Master Enablers ensure that the standard meets modern business demands and stays adaptable while protecting core teachings.
Only enterprise-level companies can reach this stage, as it requires a significant commitment, including delivering at least four Train-the-Trainer classes annually.
The certification process involves participating in 3 to 4 Train-the-Trainer classes for their chosen program, where skills are progressively transferred.
Most companies rely on BTP to support this service due to the complexity of achieving and sustaining the Master Enabler level.
